Visiting Joshua tree was nothing short of magical.
Where to stay?
With a couple friends, I stayed at an Airbnb in Joshua Tree. When searching for a place to stay, the Chiquita on Flamingo caught our eye and the price was just right.
Three of us slept inside so if you choose to stay with a few people here, be ready to snuggle up.
Outside we had access to a kitchen, hammock, camp fire and toilet. It was perfect for a trip in the desert.
The evening we arrived, we were greeted with the most beautiful view and rainbow. After we were settled in, we headed off to town to eat dinner and get some firewood.
What to eat?
We ate dinner at Joshua Tree Saloon. Being one of the few restaurants to choose from, this place was packed. It had a fun vibe with karaoke and we ate some good burgers!
We ended the night playing games by the fire and then ran inside after hearing what we think were coyotes?
That night we experienced the most intense thunderstorm in the middle of the desert. This wasn’t the Florida rainstorms I was used to but I still slept like a baby falling asleep to the sound of thunder and rain.
In the morning we saw the damage that this storm caused. A lot of places were shut down due to being out of power, but we got lucky and found a cute coffee shop open, Joshua Tree Coffee Co.
What to explore?
Rocks. Lots of rocks. I remember standing in the middle of the desert in pure awe. Whenever I go somewhere new, I realize just how big our God is. My mind is blown, every single time.
Going to Joshua Tree in October was nice because mornings were chilly and the afternoons had just the right amount of sun with a slight breeze.

Looks like such a nice time. I love the rustic look! We actually stayed in a RV park, but rented a small two story house for the holidays. I told my husband I wouldn’t mind doing some actually camping/glamping in a RV.

Our planet really is a beautiful place! The desert isn’t my first choice but it certainly does have its charms doesn’t it? Glad you had a great trip.

Cool. I haven’t thought about checking AirBnB for places to stay in the US. Usually it’s either Booking for LATAM or Agoda for Asia and I keep forgetting about AirBnB. We will be having a ~4 week roadtrip through the Southwest in May and were kinda shocked about the rather pricey hotel rooms we found. And yes! Joshua Tree is for sure one of the stations on the trip. I’ve seen so many lightpollution-free nightsky images from this place!
yes! air bnb is usually my go to when i am looking for somewhere to stay! I’ll have to check out some of the places you mentioned too 🙂
The aquas of the air bnb are wonderful! I would love to stay here! I’ve been to Joshua Tree once and hiked a few trails, but I want to go back and explore more. You found such cute places to eat, too. October is a good time to go. Summer is too hot to enjoy. Glad you had a great time!
