In June, I had the amazing opportunity to be apart of a bridal inspirational shoot! The shoot was also an excuse to getaway for the weekend 😉 Where you ask? The location of the shoot was not too far from me, about 2 1/2 hours and 160 miles away in Cumberland Island, Georgia.
Wow, this island is truly a hidden treasure. Before you can even step foot on Cumberland Island, you have to take a 45-minute long ferry trip from St. Mary’s(Georgia). Who doesn’t love ferry rides!? The island is approximately 18 miles long and has its unique characteristics throughout. The islands natural habitat including birds, horses, hogs and more makes it extra special along with the history it holds. Read more about the history here.
Adventures at Cumberland Island include camping, biking, bird watching, star gazing, hunting, fishing and private boating. There’s also a Land and Legacies Guided Tour that takes you to historic locations around the seashore. One of my favorite spots was exploring the ruins of the Dungeness Mansion. Heres an old photo from 1958 prior to the fire damage. If you intend to camp on the island or simply visit for the day, you can contact the National Park Service for access.
I wanted to share some of my favorite shots that Professional Photographer and sweet friend, Kenzie Packrall took. This bridal shoot is also featured on Joy Wed!
