California was lovely as I’m sure you could have already guessed. I’ve been to Cali before but only in L.A. for a work trip. Recently, I was able to stay a little longer (Wed-Sunday), to visit my boyfriend, and watch his first home soccer game of the season! Although watching Tyler play was the main reason I went, he also planned out some touristy things for us to do while I was there.

First things first. Tyler and I have a tradition to always have In-N-Out as the first meal we eat together when we see each other on the West Coast. So on Wednesday night, as soon as I hopped out of the plane, he fed me a burger, fries & a chocolate shake. Smart guy.

Thursday was a relaxing day, really really relaxing. I’ve been wanting to go to the chiropractor for a while and finally had the chance to go. I was nervous since it was my first time, but it was nice! Every bone cracked, so I left satisfied. Thanks to Chiropractor Jesse!

Following my appointment, we spent the day in downtown Sacramento and stumbled upon this restaurant called Crepeville. Breakfast food is my favorite, and crepes for breakfast are my absolute fav! So needless to say, my tummy was happy and full.Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

After breakfast, we walked around downtown Sacramento and enjoyed the beautiful breeze, but not so much the pollen. Both of our allergies were out of control, but we managed to survive. We enjoyed walking through Capitol Park and then..drumroll please…. we finally went to see Beauty & the Beast! I love the movies, and having a boyfriend across the country makes movie dates extra special when we get the chance to go. Beauty & the Beast was amazing by the way.

Temple Coffee Roasters was our next stop in downtown. If you’re a coffee lover, it’s definitely worth a try. It’s super cozy if you bring the right company.. Check out their page here: @TempleCoffee

Later, we picked up Tyler’s dad at the airport and finished the night together with dinner at Texas Roadhouse.

San Francisco was a bit of a drive from Sacramento (about two hours), but it was worth every minute for this view!  After enjoying the Golden Gate Bridge in all of its beauty, we were hungry. So Tyler found us a traditional Chinese restaurant in Chinatown and I never say no to Chinese. We were impressed but not surprised with how good it was!

After eating our hearts out, we walked to Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier39 which covers numerous blocks along the waterfront. Here we visited some souvenir shops, saw Alcatraz (a former federal prison on Alcatraz Island, home to some of the worst criminals in the US while it was in operation) and made an ice cream stop of course.

We also saw some really cute sea lions!! & Lombard Street which was just as crooked as I heard it was 🙂

Sacramento Saturdays
If you are ever in Sacramento , you HAVE to try out this cute and yummy breakfast place called Bacon and Butter. Warning: it gets really busy (duh) so arrive early. IMG_3986

Here’s what we had:

  • Me- Grilled cheese Benedict (OMG SO GOOD), I am not a huge grilled cheese fan but this was delicious.

  • Tyler- Bacon & Egg Flapjacks (no photo)

Trust me you have to try the place out. While we waited to be seated, we visited the thrift store next door that had a hidden coffee shop in the back. The lady working was so nice and the coffee was great!

After breaky, we went to the Midtown Farmer’s Market. Tyler found a honey vendor who sold him some edible bee pollen that was supposed to help him with allergies, it didn’t help, but it was a nice thought 🙂

Saturday night
Sacramento Republic FC VS Orange County Blues- This was by far one of the best soccer games I’ve ever been to. Being able to cheer on my boyfriend, and seeing his team win 4:0 was so fun to witness!

Sunday
We ate donuts for breakfast Sunday morning, then went to Starbucks-even though I prefer Dunkin 😉 -and then I flew back to Florida.

Overall, this was a fun getaway and I am excited to explore other areas there soon 🙂  I encourage you to take a trip to Cali sometime soon if you haven’t yet. You can do a lot even in a few days!

Thanks for reading!

  2. Sounds like an awesome trip! You can’t get much better than delicious food and soccer. Big soccer fan here! What position does your boyfriend play?

  3. Looks like you had a ball. I’ve from Cali and I have never been up North. I have got to visit because your pics of the food alone look amazing.

  4. Hey! I I can see how much fun you guys had! I traveled to states last autumn, been to Las Vegas but missed California 🙁 Maybe next time! And yeah, your pics are cool!

  5. We live in a part of the country that doesn’t have In ‘n Out Burgers, so we have the same tradition! First stop when we land in a city with an In ‘n Out? It’s for a double-double and fries!

  6. Sounds like a perfect trip! I love California and I can’t wait to get back. Definitely want to visit Sacramento 🙂
